A busy final few days of the kids summer holidays before school starts with a flying visit down South to go to Harry Potter World near London and then Alton Towers theme park on the way home. Picnic lunch at Willen Lake Aqua Park in Milton Keynes on the drive down and we discovered a great Country Park in Leavesden, North Watford next door to arry Potter world.

Harry Potter World

Ben "it was really fun and exciting" Abigail " it was a great experience full of excitement and wonders. Also if you ever go make sure you talk to the staff around the place they know a lot about behind the scenes, like in the first movie when all the letters came out of the fire place, it was a post office letter sorter and some staff throwing letters, and one of the staff had hand written all the letters "Dear Mr Potter, Privet Drive" and the house number. If you ever get a chance I would highly recommend going ! ! ! ! " Steve & Josie "five hours flew by and it was a fantastic, entertaining, attraction with something for everyone. The Butter Beer tasted like nothing on earth and there was some serious price gouging for photographs/merchandise but all to be expected at what was a top attraction. Really good fun"

Alton Towers

The last weekend before the kids go back to school and a day at Alton Towers theme park was scheduled. Below is what Josie and I imagined it would be like - Wicker Man, Smiler, Oblivion, scary rollercoasters and thrill seeking family fun!

Here is what it was really like - CBeebies Land, Peter Rabbit Hippy Hop and the Carousel!!

We did end the day with some family rides after the kids built their confidence on the kids rides - good fun on the Runaway Train, Pirate Ship and River Rapids. Maybe next year for the roller coasters!
