This long weekend was all about horsepower. On Sunday it was all about Italian horsepower as Lancaster celebrated the end of the "Festa Italia" with a street party and parade, the highlight of which was the scooters, motorbikes and cars. We sat outside a nice pub and enjoyed lunch while watching a parade of Vespa's and Lambretta's, followed by Ducati's and Augusta's and finally the Ferrari's and Lamborghini's.
Bank Holiday Monday was a horsepower of the four legged variety as we headed on the train around Morecambe Bay to Cark and Cartmel and walked into the lovely village of Cartmel to attend Cartmel races (nice VW and views along the way). What a fantastic experience for the kids to see the racehorses up close and personal and to enjoy a day in the sunshine with a picnic at the finish line. Out of the six races we only backed one winner, although when you are betting based on horses names (Loose Moose was 200/1) and the colour of the jockey's outfits you can't expect a good return on investment. Super fun day at the races and we even enjoyed a trip around Cartmel Priory and coffee in the village prior to the races...
