We stayed on after the Hundred cricket match to have an extra couple of days in Manchester and had tons of fun visiting the Science Museum, National Trust Castlefield, Children's Library, National Imperial War Museum, Ordsall Hall and Summer Daze at Trafford Centre.
Ordsall Hall - Salford - A historic Grade 1 listed timber Tudor style house and Great Hall in the heart of downtown Salford, Manchester. Fantastic fun for the kids with make your own willow crowns, Victorian dress-up and wonderful historic hall and gardens. From Abigail "We made flower head decorations with volunteer Kate who showed us how to weave willow and flowers into a crown. We were also allowed to go into the Great Hall and pretend to be Kings and Queens and Knights trying on outfits, real armour /chains and lie in the four poster bed and dine at the banquet table. It was such an amazing opportunity to bring history to life"
Manchester - Media City Salford, Trafford Centre Summer Daze Fair, Castleifeld Viaduct and downtown Manchester. From Abigail "Manchester was amazing. We caught the tram to so many places including the Trafford Centre where we went to a fun fair at the back of the mall. We bought wrist bands and ride tickets and got to go on lots of fun rides. The first ride was the merry go round swings i went on with mum, we then went on the log flume as a family and all got soaking wet!, before my brother and i went on the Sea Storm which was fun until the boat started going crazy fast, spinning around and sending us flying backwards and made us feel we were about to fall out. Scary but still fun. Earlier in the day we visited the Manchester Grand Library, I couldn't believe my eyes, it was so big and had such amazing places to sit and read a book, like the big foam circles cut into the walls you could sit in."
